I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: two Maine Coons are better than one. If you get two kittens from the same litter, they will already be bonded, will entertain each other for hours, and will keep each other company when you are out.
Whether you think of them as cheeky monkeys, double trouble, partners in crime or terrible twins, when it comes to naming a pair of kittens, choosing names that compliment each other feels like a great idea.
How about the names of famous twins and duos, some historic, some mythological, and some more current?
Here are my top 25 favorite pairs of names. How many of these have you heard of?
1. Venus and Serena
The Williams sisters, Venus and Serena, are famous ladies in the world of tennis with many victories to their names. If you have a pair of female Maine Coons who look like they might be capable of great achievements then these names will really suit them.
2. Brie and Nikki
Brie and Nikki, the Bella twins, are a professional wrestling tag team who perform on WWE. So if you have a pair of lively girls who love a little play fighting, these would make the perfect names for them.
3. Tia and Tamera
The Mowry sisters, Tia and Tamera rose to fame in the sitcom Sister Sister. These names would suit to Maine Coon sisters who love a bit o the lime light.
4. Coco and Kelly
The Miller sisters were professional basket ball players in the WNBA. Are your Maine Coon girls good at bouncing balls about? Then Coco and Kelly are great names for them.
5. Heather and Heidi
These tall twins made it into the Guinness World Records in 1991 as the tallest female twins. So if you have a pair of tall lady Maine Coons, these lovely names would suit them well.
6. Lottie and Lisa
Lottie and Lisa is a 1949 novel by Erich Kästner, about twin girls separated at birth who meet again at summer camp. I’m glad your Maine Coon girls were not separated. Could they be a Lottie and a Lisa?
7. Ann and Abby
These twins were advice columnists in the 1950s. If you have a pair of girls who seem to take in everything you say, they could be mulling over your words to come up with some good advice.
8. Cain and Abel
If you have two Maine Coon boys, you could name them after these biblical brothers. They were the son’s of Adam and Eve; Cain was a farmer and Abel was a shepherd. Hopefully, your two Maine Coons will love each other and kittie Cain treats his brother better than the biblical Cain treated his …
9. Ronnie and Reggie
Ronnie and Reggie Kray were twin brothers and English criminals. They had a gang known as ‘The Firm’ which perpetrated organized crime in the East End of London in the 1950s and 60s. If you have two little boy cats with mischievous tendencies these names might suit them.
10. Romulus and Remus
In Roman mythology, Romulus and Remus are said to be the founders of the city of Rome. Could these be the names for two boy cats?
11. Jacob and Esau
Jacob and Esau are brothers mentioned in The Book of Genesis. Esau liked to go off hunting and Jacob preferred to stay at home with his mum. Does this sound like your two Maine Coon boys?
12. Ronde and Tiki
Football player twins Tiki and Ronde Barber were notoriously competitive players, with a strong bond to each other. These names would suit a pair of brother Maine Coons who love to be together.
13. Mario and Luigi
These Nintendo twins are the coolest fighters in the Mushroom Kingdom. If you have two brothers who like a friendly tussle, these could be the names for them.
14. Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is a 1969 Western film. The two main characters had a remarkable friendship. I think Cassidy and Sundance are great names for two close cat brothers.
15. Smokey and Bandit
This was a 1970s action movie. Bandit was a bootlegger and Smokey was the sheriff who pursued him. So if you have one naughty boy and one who likes to keep the piece, these are their ideal names.

16. Samson and Delilah
Still following a biblical theme, here are the perfect names for brother and sister Maine Coons. Samson had the strength of a lion so this name seems apt for a Maine Coon.
When his wife, Delilah shaved off Samson’s hair, his strength was sapped from him. Hopefully, the worst that your Delilah will do is pull out a few hairs from her brother.
17. Luke and Leia
If you’re a Star Wars fan then what could be more fitting than brother and sister Maine Coons named Luke and Leia? Hopefully, they won’t start a rebellion in your home.
18. Apollo and Artemis
In Greek mythology, Artemis is the Goddess of the hunt and her twin brother, Apollo, was the God of music. So if you have a clever huntress and a boy who likes to ‘sing’, look no further for their names.
19. Bonnie and Clyde
This infamous duo were American criminals who traveled the Central United States with their gang during the Great Depression. Most Maine Coons have the opposite natures to these two but the names would still suit.
20. Sebastian and Viola
These are the twins who were separated in a shipwreck in Shakespeares Twelfth Night. You could celebrate keeping your siblings together by christening them with these beautiful names,
21. Romeo and Juliet
More Shakespeare characters – these ill-fated lovers were from opposing families. You could have a Romeo and Juliet living in perfect harmony in your home.
22. Hansel and Gretel
‘Hansel and Gretel’ is an 1812 German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. They are a young brother and sister kidnapped by a witch who lives in a house made of candy. Your Maine Coons will hopefully have fairytale lives with you with fairytale names to match.
23. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch
In the Marvel comics, Pietro, aka Quicksilver, is lightning fast, while Wanda, the Scarlet Witch, has telekinetic abilities. So if you have a silver-colored boy who can move at quite a speed and a female who seems able to rearrange your belongings without laying a paw on them, maybe these are the name you should pick for them.
24. Wilma and Fred
Yabadabadoo. How about the names of the Flintstone cave couple? Or you could consider the names of their neighbours Fred and Betty?
25. Fred and Ginger
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers were iconic dance partners who made many films together from 1933 to 1949. Your Maine Coon brother and sister may not have perfectly choreographed moves but they might be able to get into a few of the holds. And if your little girl is a red tabby, these names are ideal.
